With just a few sheets of natural beeswax, and a spool of wick, you can easily make your own candles at home. The moment you pick up the beeswax and roll it gently in your hands, you’ll find it calms your mind, and arouses your senses. Take a moment to breathe in the heavenly aroma of honey, as the wax begins to soften from the warmth of your palms.

What you’ll need:
natural beeswax sheets
a spool of wick
hair dryer

Cut the beeswax sheets in to the desired height of your candle, and then cut wicks about 1 cm longer than the height of the candle.

Use the hairdryer to warm one end of the wax, place the wick on top, and then carefully crimp the wax over the wick.

Start rolling the wax, ensuring it is rolled tightly and evenly. If the wax is a little too firm to roll, you can gently warm it with the hairdryer.

Warm the last edge of the wax sheet, and then roll together until secure.

If you live in New Zealand, you can order everything you need from Pure Nature or Candle Creations. I've also seen ready to go kits in store at Commonsense Organics and online from Mossops Honey.
