After experiencing Unleash The Power Within with Tony Robbins, I felt inspired to shift a couple of habits, including my morning (need for) coffee. I've always told myself I loved the ritual, but the truth is, I couldn't imagine functioning properly without it. The good news, however is that I have come to love a replacement which makes me feel even more amazing (minus that horrible, jittery feeling). Say hello to the matcha latte. Yes I know, matcha is very trendy these days, but you know what? I'm happy to jump on the bandwagon because I'm utterly, and hopelessly hooked.

This high-quality, powdered green tea contains a small amount of caffeine, which creates a calm, long-lasting alertness.  It's also full with antioxidants, with numerous health benefits. You can read more about it here on one of my favourite blogs, Wellness Mama.

After experimenting with few different concoctions, I've come up with a recipe that's just right; a heavenly combination of matcha, coconut milk, lucuma, ashwagandha, and pure vanilla bean. Read on below for the method.

1 1/4 cups coconut milk, or almond milk
1/2 tsp - 1 tsp matcha (I suggest starting with less if you're new to matcha)
1 tbsp organic coconut oil
a pinch of pure vanilla bean powder

A few optional extras if you're interested in taking your matcha to the next level:
2 tsp lucuma powder, packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Read 10 great reasons to love lucuma here.

1 tsp ashwagandha, an adaptogenic herb that helps the body to cope with stress and support the adrenals. Find out more info here. I buy the Ceres Organics brand.

a pinch of cinnamon, for it's anti anti-inflammatory properties.

To make:
Gently heat the coconut milk in a small saucepan until steaming. Carefully pour in to a blender along with the remaining ingredients, and pulse a few times until frothy and creamy.

Pour in to a large mug (I like to warm mine up first with boiling water to prolong the matcha drinking ritual). Now take the time to enjoy your steaming mug of deliciousness, and how wonderful it'll make you feel today.

Are you matcha latte lover? I'd love to hear how you make yours? Eleanor x

Sounds great – where does one buy ashwagandha from?
