Eleanor Ozich PLACES TO GO

Growing food that is good for you and good for the Earth, it's just commonsense, really. This simple idea is the essence of the Commonsense Organics brand, and something I believe in wholeheartedly. The Commonsense family now owns six stores in New Zealand, five in Wellington and the latest in Mt Eden, Auckland, each selling a brilliant range of organic, fair trade and environmentally friendly products. Scroll down to see some photos of our typical weekend shop (with my older two sneakily hiding chocolate in the trolley, and flying paper planes in the isles, sorry customers! kids these days eh). I've also shared a scrumptious recipe overnight bircher with mango coconut yoghurt. I hope you enjoy! Eleanor xx

In celebration of their 25th birthday, Commonsense Organics has collaborated with Wellington Chocolate Factory to create an extraordinarily delicious bar with cacao nibs and sea salt. We've already demolished far more blocks than I would like to admit!  I'll be giving away a few in the coming days so be sure to keep a watch out on my facebook and instagram. If you can't wait that long, you can order a bar (or three) online here, or of course, in store!

Here's a simple recipe for overnight bircher, it's like sunshine in jar, and takes a mere few minutes to prepare.

1 cup rolled oats, I used the Bob's Red Mill brand
1 1/2 cups whole milk, or nut milk for dairy free
1 cup mango coconut yoghurt, I used Raglan Coconut Yoghurt
2 tbsp chia seeds
1/2 cup shredded coconut
honey or pure maple syrup to sweeten, optional

fresh fruit to serve

Place all ingredients in to a bowl, and whisk gently until well combined. Cover, and place in the fridge overnight.

Serve topped with fresh fruit, best enjoyed outside, in the morning sunshine.

Serves 2-3.
